Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
|2x – 3| = 11
2x – 3 = 11 or 2x – 3 = -11
2x = 11+3 or 2x = -11+3
2x = 14 or 2x = -8
x = 14/2 or x = -8/2
x = 7 or x = -4
So the solutions are x = 7 or x = -4

Hello,
This is solved as two problems:
2x – 3 = 11 And 2x – 3 = -11
x=7 x=-4
Check these answers into the original and we see they both work.
Make sense?
