Hi, there--
       4x^2-4x+2
     -----------------------
x+1 ) 4x^3+0x^2-2x+3
      4x^3+4x^2
     ------------
          -4x^2-2x
          -4x^2-4x
          ---------
                2x+3
                2x+2
                -----
                   1
Notice that you have a remainder 1, so you may give your answer as
(4x^3-2x+3)/(x+1)=4x^2-4x+2 remainder 1 OR
you will also see this notation
= 4x^2-4x+2 + 1/(x+1)
.
I hope the layout that I have posted looks the same on your screen as it does on mine.
If you cannot read this properly, please email me and I will email you a scan on the solution.
