Question 617389: Could someone please walk me through how to solve this problem?

Use the 4-step process to solve:
The ratio of Jennifer's money to Rachel's money is 11:7. If Jennifer gives Rachel $20.00, they will have the same amount. How much did they have to begin with?

Answer by Earlsdon(6294)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I don't know about the "four-step" process, but here goes!
Before the exchange of money, Jennifer had $ and Rachel had $.
After the exchange, Jennifer had $ and Jenifer had $ and these last two amounts are equal, so
Simplify.
Divide by 4.

Originally, Jennifer had $11x = $110.00
Rachel had $7x = $70.00
