Notice that this means 3 times a number = -84.
To isolate the m we need to do the opposite of 3 times on both sides of the equation. We divide both sides of the equation byt 3.

Sanity Check, do both sides of the = sign equal when m=-28?
3(-28)=-84
-84=-84 We're right.
