Answer by funmath(2933)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
7-3=r-4(2+r) Simplify the left side
4=r-4(2+r) simplify the right side
4=r-4(2)-4(r)
4=r-8-4r
4=-8-3r Now use inverses to isolate the r.
4+8=-8+8-3r
12=-3r
12/-3=-3r/-3
-4=r
:
Sanity Check, do the sides equal when r=-4?
7-3=(-4)-4(2+(-4))?
4=-4-4(-2)?
4=-4+8?
4=4!!! We're right!!!
Happy Calculating!!!
