Answer by tutorcecilia(2152)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
v=r+at
v-r=r-r+at
v-r=at
(v-r)/t=at/t
(v-r)/t=a

v = r + at, for the a
:
The idea is to perform various math opertations on the equation to get 'a' on one side of the equation by itself. You can do all 4 math operations +,-,*,/, as long as you do the same to both sides.
:
v = r + at
Subtract r from both sides:
v - r = r - r + at
v - r = at
:
Since 'at' means a*t we have to divide 'at' by 't' to get 1a which is just 'a'
Divide both sides by t:
=
The t's cancel so you have:
= a
Normally this would be written:
a =
