3(X+2.9)=6.3-5X
3X+8.7=6.3-5X
3X+5X=6.3-8.7
8X=-2.4
X=-2.4/8
X=-.3

Answer by funmath(2933)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3(x+2.9)=6.3-5x
3(x)+3(2.9)=6.3-5x
3x+8.7=6.3-5x
-3x+3x+8.7=6.3-5x-3x
8.7=6.3-8x
-6.3+8.7=-6.3+6.3-8x
2.4=-8x
2.4/-8=-8x/-8
-.3=x
:
Check by substituting x=-.3 and see if both sides of the equation = when you simplify them:
3(-.3+2.9)=6.3-5(-.3)
3(2.6)=6.3+1.5
7.8=7.8 We're right!!!
Happy Calculating!!!
