Question 563806: 2x+7y=3
x=1-4y

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2 x + 7 y = 3 .............1
1 x + 4 y = 1 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by -4
Multiply (2) by 7
-8 x -28 y = -12
7 x 28 y = 7
Add the two equations
-1 x = -5
/ -1
x = 5
plug value of x in (1)
2 x + 7 y = 3
10 + 7 y = 3
7 y = 3 -10
7 y = -7
y = -1
