Answer by funmath(2933)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Isolate the variable on one side of the equal sign within the rules of algebra. Whatever you do to one side of the equal sign you have to do to the other.
3-4q=10q+10
3-4q+4q=4q+10q+10
3=14q+10
3-10=14q+10-10
-7=14q

:
Check by substituting q=-1/2 into the original equation and see if both sides equal.

3+2=-5+10
5=5 We're right!!!
Happy Calculating!!!
