Question 520657: Solve the system of equations
X-Y=1
-4x+3y=5 By substitution
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1 x -1 y = 1 .............1
3 y = 5 + 4 x ---------2
/ 3 =
y = 1.67 + 1.33 x
Substitute y in (1)
1 x -1 ( 1.67 + 1.33 x ) = 1
1 x -1.67 + -1.33 x = 1
1 x -1.33 x = 1 1.67
-0.33 x = 2.67
/ -0.33
x= -8
Plug the value of x in (1)
1 x -1 y = 1
1 * -8 -1 y = 1
-8 -1 y = 1
-1 y = 9
/ -1
y= -9
