Does this:

              -2/3x-1/2=1

mean this?:

1.     x -  = 1    

or does it mean this?: 

2.      -  = 1

If it's the first way, like this:

                   x -  = 1

then clear of fractions first by multiplying through
by the LCD of 6

               6·x - 6· = 6·1
 
                    -4x - 3 = 6

                        -4x = 9

                        = 

                          x =

If it's the second way, like this:

                    -  = 1

then clear of fractions first by multiplying through
by the LCD of 6x

             6x· - 6x· = 6x·1
       
                    -4 - 3x = 6x

                        -9x = 4

                        = 

                          x =
