Question 46944: I am confused on how to solve this equation can someone help me please?
(2x-1)^2(x-5)^2 + (2x-1)^3(x-5)=0
any help will be appreciated thanks.
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2x-1)^2(x-5)^2 + (2x-1)^3(x-5)=0
Factor as follows:
[(2x-1)^2][(x-5)][x-5+2x-1]=0
[(2x-1)^2][(x-5)][3x-6]=0
Setting each factor equal to zero and solving for "x" gives
the following solutions:
x=1/2 with multiplicity two;
OR
x=5
OR
x=2
