Hi,

(6x^2+3x-18)/(2x+4) = 3x - 9/2

Following is "long division" following the same pattern as all long division

2x +4 | 6x^2   +3x   -18      

     - (6x^2  +12x)        This is 3x (2x+4)

       ---------------

                -9x -  18

             - (-9x -  18) This is -9/2(2x+4)   

                ---------

                      0

Note:

 (2x+4)(3x-9/2) = 6x^2 +3x -18

F	First terms 6x^2

O	Outside terms -9x

I	Inside terms  12x

L	Last terms     -18
