Question 462339: Dividing rational expressions: I'd like to receive help on how this works. I keep getting the wrong answer. x^2+6x+9 over x+3 / x^2-9 over 3x-9. I get 3x-9 over x-3 and the book says the answer is 3. Thank you for you help.

I get 3x-9 over x-3 and the book says the answer is 3.
You are on the right direction.
(3x-9) / x-3 can be simplified further
3(x-3) / x-3
x-3 cancels out, so you get 3 as the answer.
