Question 458448: What is the center and radius of the circle: 4x^2+4y^2+48=640
for this equation, i divided all terms by 4. Therefore, leaving the equation with: x^2+y^2+12=160
Next, i brought the 12 to the other side of the = sign; thus, making the equation: x^2+y^2= 148
Now, we know that the equation of the circle is: (x+h)^2+(y+k)^2= r^2
since we can see from the equation: x^2+y^2=148
there is no h or k and therefore, the center of the circle is (0,0)
we know that the radius squared is 148 so in order to get the radius you need to square root the 148. therefore, the square root of 148 is 12.16552506
is there a mistake that i made with this equation? please let me know!
