Multiply (2) by 2
x+2y=4
6x-2y=10
Add the two equations
7x= 14

plug value of x in (1)

2y=4-2
2y=2
y=1

SUBSTITUTION METHOD
x+2y=4 .............1
y=-5 +3x ---------2
Plug the value of y in (1)
x+2(-5+3x)=4
x-10+6x=4
x+6x=4+ 10
7x=14
/7
x=2
Plug the value of x in (1)
x+2y=4
1*2+2y=4
2+2y=4
