Question 424905: trains A and B are travelling in the same direction on parellel tracks. train A is travelling at 60 miles per hour and train B is travellling at 80 miles per hour. Train A passes a station at 11:10 pm. If train B passes the same station at 11:25 pm, at what time will train B catch up to train A?
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Train A 60 mph
Train B 80 mph

Train A passes station at 11:10
Train B passes station at 11:25

Difference in time= 00:15 15
Train Awill have covered 15 miles before Train B

catch up distance= 15 miles
catch up speed = 80 -60 mph
catch up speed = 20 mph

Catchup time = catchup distance/catch up speed
catch up time= 15 / 20
catch up time= 0.75 hours
catch up time= 45 minutes
catch up at 12:10 AM
