Answer by nerdybill(7384)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
7/x + x = 16/x
multiplying both sides by x:
7 + x^2 = 16
x^2 = 9
taking the square root of both sides:
x = +- 3
that is, x is "plus or minus three"
