Question 412820: 2x^2-7x=4
Answer by shree840(260)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2X^2-7x=4
2x^2-7x-4=0 you need to multiply 2 with 4 =8 and find factors of 8
8x1
4x2
in this case we can use -8 and 1 so that when added is -7 and multiplied is -
2x^2-8x +x-4
2x(x-4)+ 1(x-4)
(2x+1)(x-4)=0
for the product to be 0 either first group is 0 or 2nd gr is zero
if first gr is 0 then 2x+1=0 orx=-1/2
if 2nd gr is 0 then x-4=0 or x=4
