Question 404607: First, thank you so much for taking time to read my question. :)
Well, I am working on a project for school and I am not sure how to set up an equation. I need a little help because my book doesn't include a very helpful example and the rest of the HW relies on this 1st question.
That said, here's the question,
Write an equation for the aircraft that gives you the distance y that the aircraft will travel in x hours.
The aircraft is cruising at 504 (mi/h).
---
I tried to use y= (504) x but I quickly slapped myself in the head because that won't help me find the distance (or so I think). I also tried a linear equation but it still didn't seem right... Am I missing something? Could you please help me out or show me another example of an equation like this.
Thanks in advance,
Alli ♥

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

I like it.
distance = rate*time
If time is x hrs and rate is 504 mph,
distance = 504x
