Question 400702: The work says "While making a cross country trip from Baltimore, MD to Denver, CO a family travels through Kansas, the last state before arriving in Colorado, on I-70. The highway is 424 miles long with a speed limit of 70 mph. The family�s distance remaining, in miles, until arriving in Colorado after t hours of driving is given by the equation d= 424 - 72t."
My question is why it is 72t and not 70t (to reflect the mph)?

Either they made a mistake it should be 70t, or you have to assume they were
exceeding the speed limit, like most of us do.
