Gary has figured that he needs to take home $30,400 a year to live comfortably. If the government get 24% of Gary's income, then what must his income be for him to live comfortably?
Let "x" be Gary's income before taxes.
INEQUALITY:
x-0.24x>=30400
0.76x>=30400
x>=30400/0.76=$40,000
Gary has to make at least $40,000 before taxes.
Cheers,
Stan H.
