The idea is to add or subtract equations in such a way that the adding or subtracting eliminates one of the variables. That makes the systems easier to solve. If we start with three equations and three unknowns, we try to "boil it down" to two equations, two unknowns, and then further to one equation, one unknown...give us a problem and someone here will show you how...
