Question 365401: A family drove to the Grand Canyon, averaging 45 mph. They returned using the same route, averaging 60 mph. If they spent a total of 7 hours of driving time, how far is their home from the Grand Canyon?
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
while going speed = 45 mph
distance be x

so
time to go to grand Canyon = x/45
...
time to return = x/60
..
total time =7 hours
..
x/45+x/60 = 7
60x+45x / 60*45 =7
105x=7*45*60
/105
x=7*45*60/105
=180 miles
