Question 365063: The reciprocal of one third of a number decreased by one third of the reciprocal of the number is 1/3. find the number.
I let x be the number.
x/3 = the third the number
3/x 1/3 of the reciprocal
So...
x/3 - 3/x = 1/3
3x(x/3 - 3/x) = (1/3)3x
x^2 - 9 = x
x^2 - x - 9 = 0
That can't be factored, can you show me what I did wrong please?
Thank you.
