Solution: x-10 = 7x-34
subtract x on both sides
x-10-x = 7x-34-x
-10=6x-34
add 34 on both sides
-10 + 34 = 6x - 34 + 34
24 = 6x
divide both sides by 6
24/6 = 6x/6
4 = x
or x = 4
