Question 360917: I need the equations for this problem:
At 8 pm, the temperature was 10 degrees Cel. and was dropping 3 degrees per minute. I need to write an equation that shows the calculations to find the answer for:
1. What will the temperature be at 8:10 p.m.?

and

2. At 8 p.m., the temperature ws 10 degrees Cel., and was dropping
"d degrees" per minute, so what was the temperature at 7:45 p.m.?
I can get the answers in my head, but can't figure out the equations for any of them.
I'm in 6th grade and feel stupid!

Hi,
*Note: to get an 'equation' one needs to use a variable
1)Let x represent the number of minutes
At 8 pm, the temperature was 10 degrees Cel,dropping 3 degrees per minute
y = 10°celsius - 3*x
at 8:10, ten minutes will have passed
y = 10°celsius - 3*10min = -20°celsius
2)At 8 p.m., the temperature was 10 degrees Cel., and was dropping
"d degrees" per minute
y = 10°celsius - d*x min
7:45 is 15 min earlier
y = 10°celsius - d*(-15)min = 10°celsius + 15*d
