*Note: Fractions are like every other number when solving an equation.
the only difference being we would like all terms to have a denominator of 1
1/4(3a+1)=2/3(11-a)
Mulitiplying both sides of the equation by 12, so as to have denominators of 1
3(3a+1) = 4*2(11-a)
simplyfy and solve as one would do an equation without 'fractions'
9a + 3 = 88 - 8a
17a = 85
a = 5 answer is an integer
