Hi,
Let x represent the tens digit. Then the unit digit is (3x + 1)
write as we read
10x + (3x+1) = 3[x + (3x+1)]
solve for x
13x + 1 = 3x + 9x + 3
x = 2 the tens digit
(3x+1) = 7 which is the units digit
checking our answer
27 = 3*(2+7) = 27
