5x=4%2B2x%2B2 Start with the given equation.


5x=2x%2B6 Combine like terms on the right side.


5x-2x=6 Subtract 2x from both sides.


3x=6 Combine like terms on the left side.


x=%286%29%2F%283%29 Divide both sides by 3 to isolate x.


x=2 Reduce.
