Hi,
-5+(3-7)-a = 8-11
-5+ 1*(3-7) -a = 8-11
Removing parenthesis
-5+ 3-7 -a = 8-11
combining like terms
-9 - a = -3
isoating a on one side the equation by adding a and 3 to both sides of the equation
-6 = a
