Question 339581: how do you solve this ?:
5/6X - 1/3 = 5/12
I tried solving it and got down to the final step but i am stuck , i got;
5X = 9/2
to get a variable X alone wouldn't you divide each side by 5 ? but you can't divide 9/2 by 5 ? can you ?.....

Answer by rfer(16322)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5/6x-1/3=5/12
5/6x=5/12+1/3
5/6x=5/12+4/12
5/6x=9/12
x=(9/12)/(5/6)
invert and multiply
x=9/12*6/5
x=45/60
x=3/4
