Question 335780: I am having some problem with find the lowest terms for these two I don't know how to convert each rational expression into an equivalent rational expression with the LCD as the denominator. Please help.
5x/x^2-1 and -4/x^2-2x+1
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
convert each rational expression into an equivalent rational expression with the LCD as the denominator. Please help.
5x/x^2-1 and -4/x^2-2x+1
----
You have to factor each denominator:
(5x)/[(x-1)(x+1)]
and
(-4)/[(x-1)^2]
-----
The LCD = (x+1)(x-1)^2
------
Rewrite each fraction with the LCD as its denominator:
[(5x)(x-1)]/LCD
and
[-4(x+1)]/LCD
