Question 333877: I am stuck, please help:
Write an equation of the line containing the given point and parallel to the given line.
(8, -9); 9x - 7y = 8
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(8, -9);
parallel to
9x - 7y = 8
-7y=-9x+8
y=-9x/-8+8/-8
y=9x/8-1 ans. for the line equation. (red line)
The parallel line will also have a slope=9/8
-0=9/8-b \b=9/8 ans. for the y intercept.
y=9x/8+9/8 (green line)
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions 9x/8 -1 and 9x/8 +9/8).
