Question 331893: I am having trouble solving the following problem can you help me? One person mows a yard in 6 hours and another mows the same yard in four hours how long would it take for them to mow the yard together?
Answer by nerdybill(7384) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
One person mows a yard in 6 hours and another mows the same yard in four hours how long would it take for them to mow the yard together?
.
Let x = time it takes for both working together
then
x(1/6 + 1/4) = 1
Multiplying both sides by 24:
x(4 + 6) = 24
10x = 24
x = 2.4 hours
or
x = 2 hours and 24 minutes
