Find the "least common multiple" prime factor each number
40:2*2*2*5
24:2*2*2*3
60:2*2*3*5
:
LCM = 2*2*2*3*5 = 120; divide by the no. of teeth of each gear

Gear 1: 3 rev
Gear 2: 5 rev
Gear 3: 2 rev
