what does x equal in 7x+2=12+5x. and how do you figure that out
7x + 2 = 12 + 5x
Substract 5x from both sides of the equation:
7x - 5x + 2 = 12 + 5x - 5x
2x + 2 = 12
Now subtract 2 from both sides:
2x + 2 - 2 = 12 - 2
2x = 10
Divide both sides of the equation above by 2:
2x/2 = 10/2
x = 5
