Question 29334: x/0.4=2x + 1.2
Answer by sdmmadam@yahoo.com(530) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x/0.4=2x + 1.2 ----(1)
Multiply through out by 0.4
x=(0.4)X(2x) +(1.2)X(0.4)
x = (0.8)x+0.48
Multiplying by 100 through out
100x = (80.0)x +48.00
100x-80x = 48
20x = 48
x =48/20 = (12X4)/(5X4) = 12/5 (cancelling 4 in the nr and in the dr)
That is x = 2.4
Answer: x= 2.4
Verification: Putting x = 2.4 in (1)
LHS = x/0.4 = 2.4/0.4 = 24/4 = 6
RHS = 2x +1.2 = 2X(2.4) +1.2 = 4.8+1.2 =6 = LHS
Therefore our answer is correct
