Divide both sides by 8 so "C" is all by itself.

I would divide each side by 8, so that "c" is left all by itself on one side and the number on the left side is equal to c. Then, take what you have and play the problem backwards to make sure you're correct.
8c divided by 8 is c.
24 divided by 8 is 3.
c = 3 is what you are left with.
now try plugging that 3 in the place where c was in the original problem.
8(3)=24... since 8 times 3 IS equal to 24, then you would be correct.
