Solved by pluggable solver: SOLVE quadratic equation with variable
Quadratic equation (in our case ) has the following solutons:

For these solutions to exist, the discriminant should not be a negative number.

First, we need to compute the discriminant : .

Discriminant d=52 is greater than zero. That means that there are two solutions: .

Quadratic expression can be factored:

Again, the answer is: 0.86851709182133, -1.535183758488. Here's your graph:

3x^2+2x-4
this is of the form ax^2 + bx +c
So a= 3 , b =2, c=-4
the roots of the equation are given by
x1,x2 = -b +/- sqrt(b^2-4ac) / 2a
x1= - 2 + sqrt( 4-4*3*-4)
= -2 + sqrt(4+48) / 6
= -2 +sqrt52 / 6
= -2 + 7.21 /6
= +5.21/6
= 0.868

x2= -b - sqrt(b^2-4ac) / 2a
== -2 -sqrt(4+48) / 6
= -2 -sqrt52 / 6
= -2-7.21 /6
= - 9.21/6
=-1.535
