step 2 - subtract 2t to get

step 3 - subtract 18 to get

multiply by t
2+6t=3-t
7t=1
t=1/7
If you mean

2(t-1) = 3(t+6)
2t-2=3t+18
add 2 and subtract 2t
t=-20
