Question 260113: One casserole dish is rectangular, measuring 12 in. × 16 in. × 2 in. Another dish is circular, with a diameter of 13 in. and a depth of 3 in. Which is the larger casserole dish by volume?

Hello,
Let's find the volume of the rectangular dish first by multiplying:
12x16x2=384 cubic inches
Now let's find the circular volume:
V=3.14(pi)r^2*3 (r is the radius and given is the diameter so r=6.5
V=3.14(6.5)^2*3 Do the calculations and:
V=397.995 Cubic inches
OK there we go. Looks like the rectangle dish wins the cake!:-)
