We have 2 equations:
(i)3x+2y=9
(ii) 5x-y=2
--
step 1 - multiply (ii) by 2 to get
(iii) 10x - 2y = 4
step 2 - add (i) and (iii) to get
13x = 13
solve for x to get
x = 1.
--
substitute x = 1 into (i) to get
3 + 2y = 9
2y = 6
y = 3.
SO we get
(x,y) -> (1,3)
