Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2/3)x+(3/4)x=-17
The parentheses eliminate ambiguity.
Multiply thru by 12 (3*4):
8x + 9x = -204
17x = -204
x = -12
