The plan is to get all x on the left and all numbers on the right
let's get rid of the 3 on the left
How? What would cancel out +3 ? -3 would make it zero so we subtract 3 from both sides or add -3 to both sides
5x=2x+6
Wait there are x on the right. If we add -2x to both sides we can cancel out the x on the right
3x=6
almost there
we still have 3 on the left
divide by 3 this time
x=2
all done
