Answer by elima(1433)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3.1a - 1.8= 1.7a + 5.9
Subtract both sides by 1.7a;
3.1a-1.7a-1.8=1.7a-1.7a+5.9
1.4a-1.8=5.9
Now add 1.8 to both sides;
1.4a-1.8+1.8=5.9+1.8
1.4a=7.7
Divide each side by 1.4;
a=5.5
Hope you understand
