Question 23711: Hello,
I've got a series of equations and only one of them can be usefull to find the solutions of the others.
The equation is 3 x + 2 y = 189
My problem is that I can't possibly find x nor y and thus I'm stuck with the other equations.
Can you tell me what I should look for in order to find the solutions?
Thank you

Did you want to graph this equation? If so, then remember that any equation in the form of Ax +By = C will be a straight line, and you need only two points to determine the line. So, when the equation is in standard form like this one is, it's easiest to find the x and y-intercepts.
3x+2y =189
If x=0, then 2y = 189, so y = 189/2 = 94.5
If y = 0, then 3x=189, so x= 63
These are very large numbers, so the graph will have to be very large or maybe you should use a scale of 10. On the x and y axis, instead of counting off 1, 2, 3, etc. as we usually do, use 10, 20, 30, etc.
If you graph these points it should look like this:
