6x+14=4x+15
Always do the same thing to both sides of the equation.
Subtract 4x
2x+14 = 15
Subtract 14
2x = 1
Divide by 2
x = 1/2

6x +14=4x+15

You have to get all the x terms on one side (let's say the left side) and all the number terms on the other side (this would be the right side!). You do this by getting rid of the 4x. Subtract 4x from each side.

6x+14-4x= 4x-4x+15
2x+14=15

Now, get rid of the +14 by subtracting 14 from each side:
2x+14-14=15-14
2x=1

Now, what is left is 2x, which means 2 TIMES x. To "undo" the multiplication by 2, you have to DIVIDE both sides by 2:
