Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the vector u(arrow above) has a magnitude of 4.3cm and a direction of 45 degrees.find the magnitude of its vertical component.
--------------------------------------
Draw the terminal side of a 45 degree angle in an x/y coordinate system
Let the length of the side be 4.3 cm
Draw a line segment from the end point of the 4.3 cm line segment
perpendicular to the x-axis.
---
That line segment is the vertical component.
----------------------
The magnitude of that component is 4.3sin(45)
= 4.3(1/sqrt(2))is appox. 3.041 cm
