Question 22443: Solve for i:
-2.1 = 4.5 - 6i

Answer by AnlytcPhil(1807)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
           2.1 = 4.5 - 6i

1. Get rid of all terms on the right which DO contain the letter by adding
   its opposite to both sides
2. Get rid of all terms on the left which DO NOT contain the letter by adding
   its opposite to both sides. Combine all like terms
3 Get rid of the coefficient of the lettsr by dividing both sides by the
   coefficient of the letter. Simplify

                2.1 = 4.5 - 6i

1. Get rid of the -6i on the right by adding +6i to both sides

                2.1 = 4.5 - 6i
                +6i       + 6i
               ————————————————
           2.1 + 6i = 4.5

2. Get rid of the 2.1 on the left by adding -2.1 to both sides

           2.1 + 6i = 4.5
          -2.1       -2.1
          ———————————————
                 6i = 2.4

3. Get rid of the coefficient, 6, by dividing both sides by 6

                 6i   2.4
                 —— = ———
                 6     6

   Simplify:

                 i = 0.4
